Here are some flower studies I did, just for fun, when not working.

Semester's End and Graduation

Finally getting down to the last few weeks of school. Deadline for the spring show is today and these are the two pieces I'm submitting. Graduation is May 20th and I'm looking forward to moving back to Santa Rosa so I can start real work. Hopefully I can update this blog more frequently now that I'm nearly out of school.

Zombie stuff

Here's some art from the zombie card game I'm working on.
A cemetary and a psychedelic zombie.
Working now on spring show stuff. Coming soon.

A weird-looking dude with a sword

Catchy title, I know. Book illustration for The Hermitage.

Workshops and Colored Markers

Some drawings I've been doing in workshops. Colored markers are suprisingly fun, I'm amazed at their speed and versatility. More practice though. I suspect that there is more I can do with them.
I'll see you all at Wondercon. I hope we all have a great time.

Some old roughs

Here are a few preliminaries I did for final paintings which will appear in The Hermitage's upcoming setting book. Although my boss did express interest in creating a card game, so these might be used for that instead. It's up to him.

As a side note, I've got to say that it feels really good to be working out again. It gives me the energy to get my homework done and go to most of the workshops. I'll also be compiling some of my good workshop drawings for upcoming posts.

4 Feb 2009

This is my last semester at AAU. I suppose its time to get one of these things rolling.
My name is Evan Johnsen, I'm an aspiring production artist/illustrater. I currently work at a startup company called The Hermitage which produces a table top rollplaying system called COR where I fill the roll of both art director and lead artist (which makes my duties pretty streight forward seeing as how I'm the only full time artist on staff).
Throughout the next 15 weeks I'll be posting both old work and new work for the purposes of building up my portfolio. Most of this work will be school related, some of it might be related to COR but it will be preliminaries only. I hope you enjoy my work.
